Common Misconceptions

What do you think people misunderstand about you?

I think I am often misunderstood in regards to my outspoken personality and fear of being fake with others. I grew up with parents who spoke to me as an adult and treated me with respect and honesty. However, my parents tried very hard to explain to me that we must pick and choose our battles. Sometimes it’s a better option to keep our mouths shut when the consequences of speaking out are great.

However, I hate being fake with others. I want everyone around me to know where they stand with me at all times. I don’t think it’s beneficial to either party to keep issues under the surface and pretend things are ok when maybe they aren’t. However, I’m learning that there are better ways to handle myself when expressing to others my feelings and I’m learning that not everyone wants to be confronted.

As a result, I have been considered a bitch and confrontational when my intentions are good. I’m learning with each new person I meet that I have to figure out how to handle myself around them in an effort to make sure they feel comfortable.
