House Tour- My Sanctuary

When Byrd and I moved into the new house in January we were struck by how quaint it is. My old house was so large that you couldn’t really decorate or feel cozy especially with the vaulted ceilings. Although some things in the new house are dated I love the character that it adds. There’s one floorboard in the living room that squeaks when stepped on just so and I’ve learned to avoid it when I’m rushing off to work at 7am. Over the next few weeks I’ll show you a couple of the rooms in the house and some DIY projects that we’ve done to make them more US.

The thing Byrd and I love MOST about this house is the floor plan. The second and third floors are basically master suites. They each have a hallway/sitting area, a full bath, and a large bedroom. I have had to share a bathroom with another person since forever so I was really excited to have my own space. I also haven’t had a desk since I started blogging over two years ago so priority number one was to make a workspace where I could work from home and blog!

Introducing: My Bedroom

When we first moved in I was dead set on painting the room gray and having a black, white, and hot pink bedroom. Once we got the keys and I saw how tall my ceilings were, I opted to keep the blue and it really has grown on me. I love the girly white, baby blue and coral decor that I’m slowly working on.

^^ My bed! It’s from IKEA and has really great drawers underneath which I use to store my shoes that I’m wearing each season. My comforter is from the Simply Shabby Chic collection at Target which I am obsessed with but the prices kill me. Luckily we found both my comforter and curtains on mega clearance so it was a win-win in my book!

^^ There are the gorgeous curtains! I love the girly touch that they add to the room.

^^ My vanity was a present from my parents many years ago and has been sitting in their house in Delaware since I moved to Maryland. I was thrilled to finally have the space for it! I’m working on getting some sort of shelving unit to go next to it so I have more space but I’m so glad it came to live in Baltimore.

^^ My jewelry organizer was a great Father/Daughter project a couple of years ago. We found this gorgeous old window at an antique store, popped out four of the window panes and replaced them with findings to hold my jewelry. I painted the other panes with chalkboard paint so I can write to-d0 lists and inspirational quotes when I’m needing it.

Next room tour will be my office area & bathroom!
