All of the lights

One reason that I love this time of the year is because Baltimore has no shortage of events and festivities. As an event planner in the city, trust me, there are SO MANY EVENTS! There are also many opportunities to see something in the city adorned with lights and/or lit up for a crowd that’s “oohing” and “aahing”. Over the last few weeks there has been the Mt.Vernon Washington Monument lighting, Ann Esther Hanukkah Menorah lighting, Patterson Park Pagoda Lighting and 34th Street Lighting in Hampden.

The Washington Monument lighting is one of my favorite holiday events and I’ve gone for the past three years in Baltimore. The Washington Monument stands 178 feet tall and can be seen from various view points in the city. When the monument is lit up for the holidays its easier to notice while driving around the city. I find myself peeking around streets to spot it.

This year Chris and I met up with some friends before hand who made hot chocolate in the crockpot and had to-go cups ready and waiting for us. We walked quickly to the monument and got there just a few minutes before the countdown.

The lights were turned on and fireworks filled the sky. There’s nothing better.

After the fireworks ended we headed into the festival area to grab some food and meet up with friends. We learned that the best time to grab food is AFTER the lighting since the vendors wanted to head out and were giving away food for FREE! We noshed on some local grub and then found our way to a local bar to enjoy a few drinks.

Tonight we are visiting my other favorite light display in Baltimore. 34th Street in Hampden! Think Clark Griswold and all of his family living on one block together. There is a block on 34th street where every single house gets decked out in Christmas lights. People come from far and wide to walk along the sidewalks and look at the lights. Tonight I’ll be one of those people.

Stay tuned for photos of it this week!

So much fun!! I somehow never make it to this lighting. My family went to the Pagoda lighting in Patterson Park, it looked so pretty!
