NOLA BOUND

photo Screen Shot 2016-01-19 at 4.19.09 PM_zps0jsxg60o.png Today is the day- we are heading to New Orleans!

I’ve been dying to take a trip to New Orleans for over a year. I’ve planned two different trips and they both fell through for different reasons. At the end of the summer I booked a stay at an Airbnb about a ten minute walk away from the French Quarter without a clue of who would be going with me. I was prepared to go alone if need be.

When I mentioned this to Chris (after we had only been dating for a month) he asked who was tagging along and I sheepishly said I wasn’t sure. From that moment on he was my traveling buddy and I was excited.

Planning a trip together when we’d only been dating for a month was aggressive now that I look back on it, but I’m so glad we did it. After a great holiday season with family I desperately needed something to look forward to during the cold and dreary winter months.

I’ve been researching like crazy and have a solid list of things I would like to see/do/eat but want to be flexible while we are there. I haven’t scheduled anything for specific days (aside from walking tours which book weeks in advance!) and have loose ideas of which days would be best for each activity but I’m totally fine with going with the flow. I’m just happy that I will be experiencing a new city with my favorite guy.

After work today we are starting the trek to NOLA. That’s right, we are roadtripping! After a combined 17 hours of driving we should arrive tomorrow afternoon. We have plans to jump right in and start exploring.

I don’t know how I’m going to get through the workday to be completely honest.

We’re also not sure how the trip will turn out with this giant snow storm headed our way. I mean if I get stuck in New Orleans I won’t be upset… :)

This sounds like so much fun! I’ve never been to New Orleans, but my husband has been for architectural conferences a couple times and for rebuilding after Katrina several times as well. He’s talked it up so much that it’s on our list of places to go, and we’ve thought about road tripping as well. Hope you have a fun time! :)

New Orleans is the best, one of my FAVORITE places! I have family down there and some of my best memories from my childhood is summers in New Orleans (except you DO NOT want to go there in the summer…it’s death) you are going to have a blast! If you have time, you HAVE to go to Mardi Gras world, it’s fun to see something so important to the culture there! (: Also, it’s not in a great area, but driving by the abandoned Six Flags there is awesome and creepy.
