Scoop on Soup

Happy Monday!

There are a lot of new faces around here- Hi everyone! So I thought a good old fashioned “Get to know me” post would be a solid way to start the week.

My name is Megan (but my friends call me Soup) and I grew up in Delaware in the house my parents built and still live today. I’m very close my parents and try to visit them as often as possible.

I grew up in a rural farming community which offered an incredible childhood but I knew it wasn’t where I was supposed to be as an adult so I applied to jobs in Baltimore, Annapolis, and Washington DC during my senior year of college. I accepted my dream job and moved to Baltimore the day after I walked across the stage to get my diploma.

I worked as an event coordinator for a company that did Run for Your Lives Zombie 5k obstacle races around the country. I was flying to a different city at least twice a month and met some of my best friends while working there. In fact, two of my fellow co-workers are my current roommates, three years later. However, it was a start up and things went south pretty quickly. The company eventually folded and we all found new jobs

I bounced to two other jobs that were great but not what I truly wanted to be doing. When I saw the job posting for an Event Coordinator for a local non-profit that focuses on cleaning up the harbor and offers free to low cost events at the Inner Harbor, I applied immediately and got the job! I’ve been with Waterfront Partnership for seven months and love what I do. It is an incredible feeling to search for over two years and finally find the position where you feel you fit like a puzzle piece. My co-workers are pretty great as well.

I love this city I’m in. I can’t imagine being anywhere else. I love the energy, the people, the food and the culture. If you ever want to talk about Baltimore or need a few recommendations to places to go, things to see, and food to eat, I’m your girl!

In a nutshell- I’m a lover of life, baking, Bravo shows, traveling, connecting with others, Netflix, puppies, and Instagram worthy snaps. Say hi and let’s get to know each other!
