Light City Baltimore

You guys, LIGHT CITY IS HERE!!! I feel like we’ve been talking about this week forever and it’s finally here!

Don’t know what Light City is? This is a summary via their website:

Light City Baltimore is the first large-scale, international light festival in the United States, homegrown right here in Baltimore. Light City will provide a backdrop for the celebration of ideas, ingenuity and creativity through art, music and innovation.

Light City will shine a light on Baltimore’s abundance of creative, cutting-edge, multi-disciplinary talent, and we welcome participants from across the globe to join us.

The event kicked off last night and goes through Sunday. There are over 50 attractions along the waterfront in the Inner Harbor including and musical performances every night.

Chris and I went last night for opening night with a group of friends and it was everything and more than I’ve been dreaming of. We started at the stage in Harbor East where Bosley was performing. Bosley is a local band and Chris knows some of the guys who play for Bosley.

Over the next three hours we wandered the Inner Harbor stopping to check out, interact and marvel at the light exhibits. I’ve never seen the harbor so vibrant and I couldn’t help but be emotional while walking around.

I have something every night this week for Light City including an event that I’m producing on Wednesday evening and I can’t believe that I’m lucky enough to see each and every exhibit. Chris and I are looking forward to Thursday night in particular to see Jazzy Jeff and I’m participating in the Creative U Conference on Friday at City Garage. I’ll be listening to some pretty impressive speakers and hope to have the chance to meet Gaia who is speaking as well.

I’m so grateful that Baltimore has a chance to make the news in a positive way this week as we approach the one year anniversary of the unrest.

I had no idea that Light City was such a big thing! I only saw it as an event on Thursday night for a coworker on our work calendar! I’m going to try to catch part of it while it’s still here!

I just posted about Light City this morning as well! I love seeing all of the photos from so many people!! We went on Monday night because the architecture firm that my husband works for had a team that created the lighthouse installation. They hosted a happy hour event for the kickoff. Then we went again last night, so I’ll probably do a second post once I’ve gone through all of my photographs. There’s just so much to see and do that it’s hard to decide what to do!

Light City i probably one of the coolest ideas out there, and I am so proud to rep Baltimore! This has been the week from hell, so I haven’t been yet, which has literally made me so upset. But weather permitting, we’ll be there tonight!
