Oh hey 26- I think I like you

How is it already Monday? My birthday weekend came and went and usually I’d be sad to see it over so soon, but it was so great that I’m just left with this overwhelming feeling of happiness. This birthday was hands down one of the best ever and was much needed after last year. When I turned 25 I was working a job I didn’t totally love, was in a relationship that had been on the outs for quite some time and Baltimore was going through one of the hardest times in recent history. It wasn’t good.

It’s amazing the difference a year can make. None of those things are true today and I’m very lucky to have a fabulous group of friends and family who love on me all year long.

And so because I don’t ever want to forget how great the last few days have been- a little birthday weekend recap if you’re up for it.

Friday was my actual birthday. At WPB we typically go out for lunch for birthdays but because I was attending a wedding later in the day I worked a half day, making lunch plans totally not possible. I also share my birthday with another co-worker so we decided to do a joint birthday breakfast at one of my favorite spots, Miss. Shirleys. My co-workers shocked me with a giant head of a photo that’s been circulating on Facebook.

This is the photo that has resurfaced:

And this is me with the big head they had made:

I seriously work with the best group of people.

After work I drove to a town about 30 minutes away for Chris’ god-sisters wedding. It was great to meet more of Chris’ family and friends- everyone was so sweet and welcoming. We danced, laughed with friends and ate delicious food. Chris didn’t want my birthday to pass without blowing out a candle so out came a dairy free chocolate cupcake with a candle in it. The cupcake was made by one of Chris’ family members and I’m pretty sure I hugged her a dozen times in gratitude.

Saturday I slept in at the hotel and then took my time getting back to the city. I rested most of the day knowing that I was going to have a busy night out with my friends!

About 15 people came out to celebrate my birthday and I was so overwhelmed with love that they chose to spend their Saturday night with me at all the packed dance bars in Fells Point. I had friends from all parts of my life- Byrd who was the first friend I made in Baltimore, the Blogger Babes and their awesome husbands, Chris’ family and his best friends who have become my best friends. It was a GREAT night.

Ya’ll, it’s easy to turn another year older when you’re surrounded by so many amazing people.

I hope you had a great weekend as well!
