MDW Celebrations

MDW was everything. My event season has kicked off in full force and to say I’ve been busy would be an understatement. Until July 1, I’m pretty sure I have an event of some sort every week. I’m not complaining- this is what I LIVE for, but it’s nice to throw in a few days of relaxation here and there, that’s for sure!

I started the weekend on Thursday night with a little shopping date with my friend Julie. She happens to be married to Chris’ cousin and I love her SO MUCH! She and her husband gave me a gift card to a cute shop in Fells Point called Party Dress. Unfortunately, they are closing. We are so bummed, but it worked out that I got a nice little discount on top of my monies from the Brooks’ and got a gorgeous pink dress out of it!

After snagging an awesome deal I met up with Chris and his godbrothers family for dinner in their town. I hadn’t seen Chris all week since he was gone for work and it’s soooo good to have him back! I miss my guy when he’s gone for more than a couple days. What can I say? He’s my best friend! Dinner was amazing, but the company was even better!

Friday morning we slept in a little and then enjoyed brunch at a spot in Fed Hill that we’ve been trying to eat at for MONTHS! Every time we visit there’s at least an hour wait and we never want to stick around so when I knew we both had a day off from work on a weekday we made plans to give it a go. Thankfully we were seated immediately, but they still had almost a packed restaurant at 10am on a Friday. I had the Cap’n Crunch french toast which Blue Moon is known for and as expected, it was delicious!

I spent the rest of the day running errands (the kind that you put off for months on end), enjoying the sunshine, and snuggling the cute pup who is in Baltimore for two weeks! I had planned to take advantage of the awesome MDW shopping deals but couldn’t find anything I really loved.

We ended the night grabbing a few drinks with friends and then I crashed hard knowing that I had to wake up for tv spots the following morning.

Waterfront Wellness kicked off Saturday! We offer free fitness classes down at the harbor Saturday, Sunday, Tuesday and Wednesday and this weekend was the first weekend. My amazing friends Katie and Clare stopped by to do the workout behind me for the tv spot and they crushed it!

Our relaxing Saturday with no plans turned into a jam packed day but it was awesome. From work Chris and I went to his parents house and took Mar along to meet their pups. I’m happy to report everyone got along well! We also stopped at the Loch Raven Reservoir which I’ve never been to and the views were amazing. We will definitely be back! We ran a few errands, popped by a rooftop deck party, and ended the night with dinner al fresco at my favorite (Papi’s).

Sunday was spent working in the morning again and then enjoying a day of sunshine and some late afternoon showers at Brew at the Zoo with my friends! Brew at the Zoo is the Maryland Zoo’s largest fundraiser for the year. They invite breweries, a few wineries, food vendors and bands to put on a festival for attendees. We paid around $30 for admission which gets you access to the event, the opportunity to walk thru the zoo, and all you can drink beer. It was a GREAT day and I couldn’t have asked for a better send off to the long weekend.

Monday was the most low key day of the weekend and I needed it to ease myself into the week (thank goodness its a short one!). I slept in until 7:15 which is the latest I’ve slept all weekend and lounged most of the morning. We enjoyed lunch with friends and I meal prepped for the week.

I think this was the best weekend I’ve had in a while especially with everything that happened in the last month and I’m hoping this is a sign of good things to come!

If you made it this far in the post, God bless you. It was a long one!

I hope you had a great Memorial Day Weekend and took a second to remember the real reason behind the holiday.

It looks like it was an awesome weekend–made even better by the puppy!!!

    • Megan

Oh he definitely made it even better than it already was!

I’m the same way. Every weekend from June to August is pretty much booked with something to do haha. Also, Brew at the Zoo looks like it was so much fun. I’m a sucker for “all you can drink” deals :)

Its such a double edged sword. You want to do fun things in the summer but you also don’t want all of your time booked up too quickly so you can actually enjoy the lazy days of summer, ya know? YES GIRL. I can get behind any event where I pay a fee to enter and then almost everything inside is free.

You always have the best weekends, it looks like! I am so jealous you got into Blue Moon Cafe, it’s Chris Davis’ favorite place in the city, so it’s like my dream to go there and run into him. (; However, there’s literally nothing I can eat there, but I think waiting an hour to sip coffee and run into Crush would be worth it…don’t you?!

Yes girl! I think it would totally be worth it! I had a few moments on Saturday where I just wanted to cancel all the plans and sit at home because I was so overwhelmed. Thank goodness for my guy who is SO GOOD at turning my mood around.

Captain Crunch french toast?! THAT sounds amazing! Your weekend sounds so fun and full of adventure. I hear you with busy season- I’m our events and wedding planner at work and my weeks are jam packed until October..crazy!
