My happy place is the beach and always has been. There is something about the feeling of sand beneath my feet, the salty cool breeze that comes off of the ocean, the slow and easygoing way of life, and the sunshine. I can’t get enough of it.

This past weekend I was invited to go to Ocean City New Jersey with Chris’ parents and extended family. I jumped at the chance. I’ve only been to OCNJ once and it was during the winter with my college roommate. I’ve never been when I could enjoy the boardwalk and beach!

Chris and I drove up early Saturday morning with his cousin and his wife. We were planning to meet his parents and Aunt and Uncle later that afternoon. The drive went quick and before we knew it we were in the beach condo furiously putting on our bathing suits to hit the beach.

Before that though, we spent a few minutes on the balcony enjoying the view. I mean, does it get any better than this? We were one block….ONE BLOCK from the beach.

We spent Saturday lying out on the beach, playing in the water, and indulging in Dole Whip (vegan, yesssss!) before meeting up with the parents at the place.

We decided to stay in and ordered chinese food for dinner before hitting up the boardwalk to check out the nightlife. I use the word nightlife loosely since Ocean City New Jersey is a dry town. We had a few drinks before hitting the boardwalk and played mini golf, which in my opinion is a beach town staple. You can’t visit the beach without playing mini golf. I didn’t do so well….but I did crush Chris at skeeball at the arcade. I’ve NEVER beat him at skeeball including the game we played on our first date. But that changed last weekend when I won ¾ games.

Sunday was our last day at the beach so we packed it full with activities! We rented bikes and hit the boardwalk first thing in the morning to get in a little exercise and see more of the beach. It was one of my favorite things we did all weekend. Take a peek:

After our morning ride we celebrated Fathers Day with a group brunch. Chris and I went to the next town (Longport) to visit Lucy the Elephant after brunch and then spent the rest of the day soaking up more rays before heading home late Sunday night.

I needed the trip to the beach desperately. The last two weeks have been filled with events, meetings, and long to do lists. It was so lovely to just sit and be without having to do anything.

Thank you to the DeMillo and Brooks family for having us!
