Made with Love

I have the best parents in the entire world.  They are my best friends and I can’t imagine not having the relationship that we have.

When I moved to Baltimore in 2012 it was the furthest I had ever been from home. I went to college 20 minutes from my hometown, had lunch with my Dad who taught at my college, and went home when I could for Sunday dinner. Packing up my car and moving 2 hours away was hard on all of us.

My Dad wanted to build something for me to remind me of home and since I needed a bookcase he made me one. It’s the most beautiful bookcase I’ve ever seen and when my bedroom in that first Bmore house flooded three times during my 12 month stay, the bookcase was the only piece of furniture I cared about protecting.

The detail he put into it and the sweet handwritten note on the back bring tears to my eyes four years later.

One weekend before moving into the new house I was running down the list of furniture Chris and I needed to get. On that list was a coffee table, a bar cart, and end tables for the living room. I wanted to DIY at least one of the pieces but my parents surprised me and built all three.

I have a full DIY post coming about this project but how cool is this dresser turned bar cart?

The coffee table was built from the drawer fronts on the bar cart. I love that they left the key holes in and the hairpin legs are amazing.

The Side Table

I wanted a small side table to sit in between our two sofas to hold a lamp and allow folks to rest their drinks. My parents went above and beyond when making this table. The hair pin legs match the coffee table, but the actual surface itself is from my Grandmothers kitchen table.

I can’t even begin to describe how sentimental these pieces are to me. Not only did my Mom and Dad take time away from their lives to create such beautiful pieces of furniture, they are repurposed from pieces that mean so much already.

Thank you Mom and Dad for filling our new house with love!

I have tears in my eyes! 1- I LOVE that your dad wrote you a note on the back of the bookcase, that is so special! 2- They built ALL of that?! So stinking sweet! They did such a great job. I am all about the DIY for that bar cart, can’t wait to read it!
