Week 5: Homemade Chex Mix

Chex Mix

Superbowl Sunday is two days away and most of us have plans for watching the game but if you are still on the fence about what to do or what snack to bring, I’ve got you!

I’m a sucker for Chex Mix so when I realized I could make it myself I jumped at the chance! After a successful first batch I’m definitely going to try other flavors and will share those with you all as well!

Ingredients:

  • 9 cups Chex cereal
  • 2 cups pretzels
  • 1 cup peanuts
  • 1 cup Cheerios
  • 6 tablespoons butter, melted
  • 1 tablespoon seasoned salt
  • 1/4 Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder

Steps:

  1. Add cereal, pretzels, peanuts and Cheerios to the slow cooker
  2. In a small bowl mix butter and salt until salt dissolves. Add in worcestershire sauce until well combined
  3. Drizzle sauce over the dry mixture in the crock pot. Toss until well combined
  4. Cover and cook on low for 3 hours. Stir at the 1 hour, 2 hours, and 2.5 hour time intervals. **
  5. Spread the mixture out on a piece of wax paper and let it cool to room temperature. 

*If the lid of your crockpot doesn’t have a small hole to let out condensation you can put a paper towel between the lid and ingredients. But this is a potential fire hazard so stay close to the crockpot to ensure safety. Without doing so the condensation could gather and the chex mix will be soggy.

    Yum! I loved Chex mix before I was gluten free! But this is seriously so doable gluten-free now that Cheerios are gluten-free!
