10 Winter Activities in Baltimore

Winter Activities

Winter in Baltimore can be rough- we either get a ton of snow dumped on us or just bitterly cold days on end.  But if it’s gonna be cold I want snow!

This season we have lucked out with unusually warm days. Highs in the 40’s and 50’s have been great when I’m walking through the harbor to a meeting, but it’s still not warm enough to stay outside for long!

I tend to hibernate the first few weeks of winter, but then I get a little stir crazy and start looking for things to do. I’ve gathered a list of things to do around Baltimore while you wait for Spring and Summer to arrive.

American Visionary Art Museum

The AVAM is one of the most interesting museums that Baltimore has to offer and the entry price isn’t bad. Check out the ball of bras and the giant Pez dispenser collection.

National Aquarium

While the aquarium is not the cheapest option for things to do, it can easily take up an afternoon and is worth the admission price. Grab a friend and check out the shark exhibit and jellies invasion!

Explore the Maryland Science Center

The Maryland Science Center isn’t JUST for the kids! The Dinosaur exhibit is my all time favorite!

Dinner and a Movie

Landmark Theaters in Harbor East happens to be right next to many delicious restaurants. I recommend grabbing a table at Azumi before catching a flick.

Duck Pin Bowling

Duck Pin bowling is a Baltimore thing, so embrace your city and give it a shot! Mustang Alley’s offers regular bowling AND Duck Pin which I didn’t know until a visit late last year. I went to Patterson Bowling Center last week for a birthday party and we received HORRIBLE customer service so although they are cheaper, I will not be returning.

Catch a show at the Creative Alliance

Creative Alliance offers a variety of shows throughout the year and their Valentine’s Day Tassels and Champagne show sounds intriguing.

Go to the Top of the World

The view from the Top of the World is unlike any other and for a $5 donation to the exhibit, you can’t beat it!

Bar Crawl

Gather a few friends and map out a bar crawl in your favorite neighborhood. Don’t be afraid to reach out and see if bars will play along, they may even make a specialty drink or shot for your group!

See a Show at the Lyric

There are many shows coming through the Lyric and Hippodrome. Visit their websites to see what’s coming up!

Visit the Bromo Seltzer Tower

Most people don’t know that you can go up into the tower of the Bromo Seltzer Tower! Artists have studios at each level and sometimes you can catch them on Saturdays.

What is your favorite Baltimore destination?

Oh that art museum looks amazing! I may not know much about Art but I definitely enjoy taking in those type of experiences.

Yes– you nailed it, girl! I love each and everyone of these ideas! Creative Alliance always has such…interesting shows and I just love it! You should do one of these posts for every season! (:

These are all great recommendations! Have you heard about the new CinoBistro movie theatre? I’m so excited for it to open!
