Week 10: Marinara Meat Sauce

Meat Sauce

My Mama makes a mean meat sauce which she always puts over angel hair pasta and it’s the most delicious meal. If you ask my brother we ate it too much as children but I disagree. She would make a huge batch of it and freeze some to eat later when we had just started to forget about it. 

I was craving ravioli this week and decided to switch it up a little with a meat sauce instead of my usual marinara. This recipe passed the boyfriend test although I do think it could have a little more punch in the seasoning. I’d play around with it a little and add some of your favorite italian seasonings to get the perfect flavor but this is still delicious! 

Ingredients:

  • 1 pound of ground beef (as lean as possible so there’s not much grease)
  • Two 28 oz cans of crushed tomatoes
  • 1 tablespoon of dried basil
  • 1 tablespoon of oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon of black pepper
  • 2 cloves of garlic, minced
  • Salt to taste

Steps:

  1. Place ground beef in the crockpot
  2. Add other ingredients on top
  3. Cook on low for 8 hours (stirring occasionally to break up meat)
  4. Serve over pasta

    I am currently making this in the crockpot!! Hope it turns out because I 100% ruined our crockpot dinner from yesterday. whoops!
