Week 17: Cinnamon Apples

Cinnamon Apples

 

I’m switching things up a little this week and sharing a dessert/sweet treat instead of a meal! Apple pie is one of my favorite treats at family dinners and holidays. Warm and gooey topped with dairy free ice cream or whipped cream? Yes please! This is kind of the same thing just without the pie crust and a LOT easier to make!

I whipped up this recipe and topped it off with dairy free vanilla ice cream while it was warm. The ice cream melted into the cinnamon apples creating heaven on a plate. I highly recommend going this route! 

Ingredients:

  • 4 apples- peeled, cored, cut into 1/2 inch thick pieces
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 1/4 cup coconut sugar
  • 2 teaspoons cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg

Steps:

  1. Prepare apples and place in crockpot
  2. Add in remaining ingredients
  3. Mix well
  4. Cook on low for 2 hours

    YUM. Okay, not even kidding, this is happening in our house this week. We’re starting a summer diet this week, but this recipe is actually not that bad for you considering it’s a sweet treat!
