Week 19: Chicken Teriyaki Bowls

Teriyaki Bowls

Teriyaki is a flavor that I don’t often cook with, but I wanted to switch things up in the kitchen especially because my better half loves all food and likes variety!

I found THIS recipe online and decided to give it a shot. Guys….I RUINED IT! Big time!  I bought the thin chicken breasts and then cooked the ingredients for 8 hours. When I pulled out the chicken to shred it, it was a hockey puck! I gave it another shot a few weeks later with thicker chicken breasts and I’m happy to say that it turned out well! 


  • 4 boneless skinless chicken breast
  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • 1/2 cup teriyaki sauce
  • 1/3 cup brown sugar
  • 3 teaspoons minced garlic
  • 4 cups cooked rice
  • 2 cups baby carrots, steamed
  • 2 cups baby florets, steamed


  1. Spray crockpot with non stick spray and place chicken inside
  2. Whisk together chicken broth, teriyaki sauce and brown sugar and garlic. Pour over the chicken
  3. Cover and cook on low for 8 hours
  4. Shred the chicken once its cooked completely
  5. Serve with cooked rice and steamed vegetables
