Charm City Creatives- Bakeamore

Baltimore is filled with many creative individuals. Business owners, bloggers, artists, and culinary masters breaking the mold and stepping outside of the box to do something different.

I get excited when I meet a new creative and even more excited when that individual has a heart of gold to go with their creative endeavors!

Last month I attended an event at Boutique 44 that was coordinated by Limonata Creative (who also would be great features for this series!) and noticed two STUNNING cakes that were so pretty no one would cut into them! After inquiring, we learned that the cakes were provided by Bakeamore.

Bakeamore is a venture where sweets are baked with love and for love. Delicious cakes, cupcakes, cake pops and cookies are made to raise money for specific charities that focus on children all over the world where Bakeamore knows their donations will make a difference.

The founder of Bakeamore, Tabita,  creates sweets and donates them to events! She asks for a donation instead of payment and 100% of the donation goes to a charity that focuses on children.

The donations go directly to one of the charities that Tabita supports- U& I, and Chukkani  in India . They have also funded projects that provide clean water and nutrition for girls in Philippines and Kupenda to help children with disabilities in Africa.

My biggest question after learning about Tabita and Bakeamore was-HOW? How did she learn to make such beautiful cakes? How is she able to produce these without receiving any payment?

The answer was simple. She feels that she has been immensely blessed and wanted to find a way to pay it forward. After seeing other parts of the world and understanding how fortunate we are in the United States, Tabita wanted to give back. She spends her days raising two small children and her nights baking in her kitchen. It takes anywhere from 5 to 50 hours to make a cake because she hand makes every part of the cake from the batter to the fondant to the beautiful and edible flowers that adorn it. It’s a labor of love and Tabita prays while she bakes for the individuals who will enjoy the cakes as well as those who will receive the support from the donations.

She truly puts love into everything she creates. I asked Tabita what she wanted to say to Soup of the Day readers and to those who are learning about her services. This is what she asked me to share:

Every act of kindness makes the world a better, loving and sweeter place. Bakeamore cakes are not just cakes, they are much more. We want to spread the message of love, hope, service and gratitude. I have made cakes for every phase of life from baby showers, christenings, birthdays, graduations, bridal showers, weddings, as well as a memorial. I would not have been able to do this without God by my side and the encouragement of my very loving family and friends. They have been very kind and generous and gifted me cake supplies and ingredients. My husband and children have been my pillars of support because of which Bakeamore was even possible. I love to see the expression on my children’s face when they see the cake in the morning. To date I call my mom and sister who are in different parts of the world for their advice on how I could improve. I am blessed to have a friend, Deepthi George, join me in this endeavor and is baking cakes in Rockville. It’s exciting to see Bakeamore expand and spread the message of love. All we knead is love.
