Memorial Day Shenanigans

Happy Wednesday friends! I’m so thankful for the three day weekend we just had and the short work week ahead of us. It’s FINALLY feeling like summer and I’m so excited for all of the fun things I have ahead of me over the next couple of weeks.

This weekend was filled with work, sleeping, relaxing, and fun with friends and honestly I couldn’t have asked for a better long weekend!

Friday kicked off our ‘Summer Fridays’ which means we are able to leave work at 2pm each Friday until Labor Day when we are able. Two Friday’s each month I have events and can’t leave early so I am 100% taking advantage of the ones that I can! I worked our pop-up lunch market until 2pm and went straight home to take a nap. The last week was exhausting with four early mornings and tv interviews so I was looking forward to some sleep!

Chris and I stayed in and relaxed for the rest of the evening.

Saturday AM was the kick off of our free outdoor fitness series! I had an interview on site at 7am and the classes started at 8am. For me, this is the first sign of summertime since it goes from Memorial Day weekend to a few weeks beyond Labor Day.

I went home and napped and relaxed until our double dinner date with Katie and Jay. We love spending time with them and were so happy to try a new restaurant with them as well. Our dinner and drinks at Pen and Quill were AMAZING! It’s been a while since I’ve tried a new restaurant in Baltimore and we had such a great experience. I asked Katie to be my Matron of Honor and she said yes. I’m so happy to have her standing next to me on our big day next year and I’m excited to share how I asked, but that will come in a few weeks!

After dinner we went to The Elephant for drinks which was also another first for us. I can’t believe we hadn’t been yet. I was in love with the ornate ceilings, gold mantels and tiny elephant details throughout the restaurant.

Another early morning for the second day of Waterfront Wellness! But watching the sun rise over the Inner Harbor is something that NEVER gets old.

Brew at the Zoo was on Sunday and is hands down one of our favorite summer events in Baltimore. The Maryland Zoo hosts Brew at the Zoo as their largest fundraiser of the year. You pay about $40-$50 for a ticket and hang out at the zoo all day sampling beer, eating good food, listening to live music and checking out the animals! We always have a large group of our favorite people and spend the day outside in the sunshine.

Unfortunately the sun didn’t get the memo and we spent most of the time with umbrellas, ponchos and hoodies on but once we were wet we made the best out of it and made more memories which is really what it’s all about.

WE RELAXED. Chris and I went for a run, cleaned, did laundry, read, watched tv and relaxed. We also decided last minute to have our own little cook-out just the two of us. We grilled burgers with garlic parmesan potatoes (recipe coming next week), cowboy caviar and watermelon slices. It was perfection.

How was your weekend?
