See it all at the DE State Fair

I live in Baltimore and have for the past five years but I was raised in southern Delaware and will always be a DE girl at heart.  A tradition that I look forward to every year is the Delaware State Fair. For 10 days each summer the state fair takes over the Harrington Raceway and brings in folks from all over our tiny state to check out livestock, exhibits, concerns and rides.

The state fair holds a special place in my heart because I used to go every single day throughout my childhood for 4-H contests and to showcase my exhibits. There are things I have to see and do when the state fair opens each year and even though it’s been almost ten years since I’ve had an exhibit in the fair, I still make a point to visit and see everything I love!

This year I had one day at home (Tuesday) to make my rounds, eat my favorite foods and see a show! There are still four days left of the fair so make sure you check out some of my favorites if you are in Delaware this week!

Grandstand

Every night of the fair a new musical, comedic or action packed act takes over the field at the race track and puts on an incredible performance for the everyone in the stands. This year we saw Rascal Flatts but they’re only one of many acts I’ve seen with my family.

Livestock

Cows to pigs to horses and goats, the Delaware State Fair has it all and they each have their own barn! If cows are your favorite animal you’re in luck- theres a whole barn filled with them!

Farm Bureau Burgers & Fries

The Farm Bureau makes the best fair burgers and fries. It’s also right next to the track seat entrance at the Grandstand so its perfect for a quick dinner before the show.

4-H Building

Did you catch my post on how being a 4-H’er has shaped my adult life? You can read it HERE. The 4-H building feels like home when walking through. Check out crafts, photographs and food exhibits that Delaware 4-H’ers entered!

Tropical Sno Cones

The best snow cones at the fair are right next to the entrance to the midway at the Tropical Sno stand! The Roberts family has been coming to the fair for over thirteen years and have become a staple at the fair!

This is awesome! I haven’t been to a state fair in years and I desperately need to change that.
