Weekend at the Soups

Sorry for the silence this week! When life gets busy I don’t pressure myself to check in here because I know it will feel forced and not authentic and you all will feel it too!

Instead I let myself get back into the week and a normal routine before I crank out some blog posts. I couldn’t let too much of the week go by without talking about what an AWESOME weekend in Delaware I just had!

I had two events on Friday so although it was a 12+ hour day it felt like my weekend kicked off early because the evening event hardly felt like work. It was the last Yappy Hour of the season and included my furry babies and Fiance and his parents and their dogs! The weather was perfect, the music was good and the pups were ADORABLE.

After wrapping up the event Chris and I tossed the pups in the car and met up with Katie and Jay and their two pups! That’s right- four people and four dogs were off to Delaware for the weekend!

We caravanned across the Bay Bridge and into Delaware arriving pretty late but were greeted by my sweet parents and went straight to bed to rest up for our weekend.

Saturday morning we woke up to homemade quiche, bagels, fresh fruit and coffee to fuel ourselves for a busy day! Thanks Mama!

We packed the car and headed to Rehoboth Beach for a day of fun in the sun and to stick our toes in the sand. It was everything I needed. Time with my best girl while our guys did their own thing, sunkissed skin and the calming sound of the waves. Everything was going well until it got crazy crowded and people were setting up camp on top of ours. We left the beach and went to Dogfish Head on the avenue for lunch. It was delicious and really cool that we were able to indulge in some of the brews that aren’t available for sale and also enjoyed some of their cocktails as well.

After lunch, browsing a few shops and picking up Dolles popcorn and mint sticks (tradition!) we hopped back in the car and went home to Sussex County. The pups and my parents were happy to see us back and we spent the rest of the evening floating in the pool, enjoying a backyard bbq and watching the skydivers. I grew up across the street from an airport that offers skydiving so it’s normal for me to look up and see people falling through the clouds! Ha!

Sunday started with a three mile walk in town by Katie, Mama, and me. It was so nice to start the day with a little exercise and also to show Katie where I grew up and the pieces of my little town that mean so much to me.

When we returned we had another delicious breakfast, this time with chocolate croissants- thanks Daddy! Sunday consisted of more pool time, the boys grilling up hotdogs for lunch and more pool time. My sunkisses skin quickly turned to sunburn and we knew it was time to head back to the city.

I can’t believe the weekend we’ve been planning for months has come and gone. I’m always relaxed at home but sharing my happy place with two of our best friends was super special and I can only hope it won’t be the only time! Huge thank you to my parents for taking in all eight of us and loving us hard!

You can never go wrong with pool time! It has been far too long since I have lounged by one.
