Week 31: Cinnamon Applesauce

Cinnamon Applesauce

My favorite snack growing up as a kid was applesauce. We’d have the little Mott’s applesauce cups in the fridge all the time, but they didn’t even compare to my Mommom’s applesauce. She would take a jar of plain applesauce from the grocery store and add about 5-7 other ingredients to make it AMAZING.

I decided to take a note from her book but make HOMEMADE applesauce. Ya’ll what is the easiest way to take the skin off of an apple? I’m pretty sure I was using a carrot peeler because it took for-freaking-ever, but I was happy with the result of the homemade applesauce.

Now that I know the recipe works and is super easy I’ll probably doctor the next batch with my Mommom’s secret ingredients but I won’t be sharing that one with you guys 😉 Soup family secret!

Ingredients:

  • 9 apples (I used gala only because they were cheapest that week)
  • 1/2 cup of water
  • 1 tablespoon of cinnamon

Steps:

  1. Peel apples and cut into chunks
  2. Put all ingredients in crock pot and cook for two hours on high
  3. Scoop softened apples into a blender and blend until smooth
  4. Store in an airtight container

I’ve always been so nervous to make this myself! I’m definitely going to try it now.
