Loving Yourself

Self care is something I’ve never really thought about in depth. Get lots of sleep, eat healthy, surround yourself with positive people- that’s what I thought it meant. But really there’s so much more to it.

I knew I needed to take a mental health day and love on myself a little when I got home from work one day two weeks ago and broke down. I love my  job but like everyone, I have bad days. It had been about 4 bad days in a row and I was exhausted both mentally and physically. I needed a day to relax and do the things that make me really happy.

So that’s exactly what I did.

I slept in and then lounged around with Chris and Cannoli until he left for work. Then I got to snuggle Cannoli all to myself

After a homemade breakfast with a warm cup of coffee I got dressed and went for a run. I don’t love running but I love the way I feel after and that’s what I was aiming for.

I ate lunch at home (saving money makes me happy) and then decided to treat myself to a mani/pedi since I hadn’t taken care of my nails since my busy event season ended.

I read a little, took a long walk in the park after my run, and then ended the night with dinner al fresco with Chris and my future in laws.

It was exactly what I needed all along. One day to recharge and refresh my mindset before heading back to work.

We live in a world where 9-5 doesn’t exist anymore. We are answering emails before bed, immediately when we wake up and even when we leave work and are standing in line at the grocery store. I love my job, but sometimes it’s nice to turn off my email and just live. My goal for the next year is to do a little more of that.

Self care is so important! The older I get the more I realize that it’s a necessity for me to feel rejuvenated.
