Epitome of Us- Engagement Photos

Five weeks ago we met with our wedding photographer to take our engagement pictures.

This might not seem like a big deal but we were nervous! We are both a little uncomfortable in front of the camera and we were hoping for the best weather possible. To wake up to a foggy and dreary day was disheartening. After a frantic message to Naomi asking what we should do about the weather she assured us that the more clouds, the better! Duh! I hadn’t even thought about it- no bright light means no squinting Megan.

Sure enough about one hour before we started our pictures the rain clouds parted and we were left with a little bit of sun peaking through and big puffy clouds to difuse the light.

We started with pictures at our home. We wanted pictures that were very us. Sitting outside of our Baltimore rowhome on our marble stoop with beers in hand (cider for me), converses on and pups in our laps. When Chris proposed we were both wearing our converse sneakers so they needed to be incorporated in the engagement photos as well and you might see a nod to them at the wedding!

We knew Cannoli would do well with the photos since he’s a ham and a limp noodle. We just kind of placed him where we wanted and he stayed. Marley on the other hand is opinionated, stubborn and an old man. If we got ONE photo with him I would have been happy. He SHOCKED us all and hung out for all of the photos at home and never once tried to wriggle away. I love that boy.

We changed quickly, hopped in the car and headed to the Pagoda for the majority of our photos. Since it was already one of our favorite spots before Chris proposed there we knew that it would be the perfect setting for our photos.

The lighting was stunning, Chris’ shirt went so well with the leaves and we had THE BEST TIME with Naomi. Truly, she made us feel so comfortable and we laughed nonstop.

I’ve spoken about Naomi before, but I can’t say it enough- she is amazing. Find a photographer that you connect with, trust, share the same vision, and make expectations clear. She took the most amazing photos and we cannot thank her enough for capturing this period in our lives. I can’t wait to have her along for the journey and to have her there on our wedding day!
