Bye January, Hello February

Is it just me or did January drag on forever?! Usually I’m writing about how quickly the month went by, but that is not the case for January. It was a crazy busy month and one that I thought would be more chill than it turned out to be! We did a LOT for the wedding and I’ll share an update on that in the next few weeks but for now a January recap is in order.

I rang in the new year sick as a dog with bronchitis which has only JUST subsided. I had a fever and didn’t leave the house for about a week between Christmas and New Years but since then I’ve had a lingering cough. I’m glad to finally kick it to the curb.

I started the new year and my first day back to work in two weeks with tv spots! The rink was open until January 15th and I had 8 events in those two weeks in January.

SkateFest is one of my favorite events that we host at the rink. It’s a fundraiser for Constellation’s Polar Bear Plunge team. The weather was not on our side with freezing cold temps but we were still able to raise some funds for Special Olympics of Maryland

The Baltimore Baton turned one! Local businesses helped us celebrate by offering specials over the weekend and we gathered some friends to hop around and take advantage of those deals! Donuts, coffee and beer were the perfect grub for a cold Saturday!

Baby Ivy! Chris’ Godbrother and his wife welcomed their first child into the world. We were lucky enough to meet Ivy shortly after she came home and are so in love with her already.

Wedding planning weekend! My Mom came to town to join Katie (MOH) and Macy (bridesmaid + wedding planner) for a whirlwind weekend of planning! We visited the venue since they held open houses every Saturday in January and got so much done. I’m so so thankful to have each of these ladies not only in my life, but also for this wedding planning journey.

Chris’ childhood friend currently lives in LA and is a stand up comedian as well as an extra on shows like New Girl. He has a calendar out right now which features him in bright leggings and in various yoga poses with his Pug placed somewhere on his body. It was featured on The Ellen Show a few weeks ago! We love Alex and love even more when he comes to town to do a show so we gathered a group of friends and laughed our booties off at the Otto Bar until the wee hours of the morning (on a school night!).

Read the recap HERE but I can’t believe we pulled it off. This idea was dreamt up almost three years ago and finally happened!

Last year Katie and I were two of the 500,000+ women who marched in Washington and this year we opted to stay close to home and participated in the Women’s March Baltimore. Read the recap HERE.

As a Baltimore Bride Hitched Blogger I was able to attend their bridal fashion show at the Four Seasons Baltimore and meet a great group of wedding vendors. I was able to connect with the bakery we are ordering our cakes from, hug my photographer as we passed by and chat with ladies offering makeup services.

We celebrated Katie’s 31st birthday at Gunther & Co which is a fairly new restaurant near our house. The food was delicious and the ambiance and company was even better.

My company decided not to do the Polar Bear Plunge this year but I love Special Olympics of Maryland so much and wanted to support them so I decided to still do it. This was my fourth year plunging and the second time my parents came to watch and support me. I couldn’t have done it without them and will never forget their little faces smiling as I ran back to the tent to warm up after plunging.

After the plunge I went home for the weekend to soak up time with my parents. We went to the local arena for a Monster Jam show like old times!

How was your January?!
